Incidence Of Non-Cervical Disease
The actual number of cases of anal and oropharyngeal cancers are on the increase and may have already (or will soon) exceed that of cervical cancer. It is estimated by the year 2020 the number of anal and oropharyngeal cancers will have already without doubt exceeded the number of cases of cervical cancer.
The highest mortality from both HPV and HIV tends to occur when they are both present together and they also appear in the same countries, which often include sub-Saharan Africa.
Men who have sex with men (MSM) have the highest rates of anal cancer. MSM also have high rates of HIV positive individuals.
